Walter Camp Past President Bill O’Brien Named to National Football Foundation Board of Directors
Branford resident brings extensive leadership experience and knowledge of the NFF's grassroots activities, adding valuable insights to the NFF's prestigious national board.
O'Brien becomes the first person to fill a newly established position on the national board that will be held on a rotating basis by a representative from the NFF Chapter Network. O'Brien joins an impressive group of leaders who currently serve on the national board, including Chairman Archie Manning, President & CEO Steven J. Hatchell, Vice Chairman Clayton I. Bennett, Vice Chairman Murry Bowden, and Vice Chairman George M. Weiss.

Xavier High School of Middletown, the Class LL champion and state’s top-ranked team, was honored along with the three other state champions – Daniel Hand of Madison (Class L), Ansonia (Class M) and Holy Cross of Waterbury (Class S).

He stands first among them, for it was he who sired the game as it is played in the United States, the game that evolved from the rugby football of England. He played in the first Yale-Harvard game of rugby in 1876. From then on, his was the fertile, inventive mind and guiding leadership that brought about the evolution of the American style of football."
