Notre Dame RB Josh Adams and Northwestern LB Paddy Fisher Named Walter Camp FBS Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN

The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, for games ending October 28.

About the Award: This is the 14th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.

Junior, Running Back, Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South
Josh Adams rushed for 202 yards (on 27 carries) and one touchdown as ninth-ranked Notre Dame defeated 14th-ranked North Carolina State, 35-14. Adams scored on a 77-yard run as the Fighting Irish improved to 7-1.

Notes: Josh Adams is the sixth Notre Dame player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the second offensive honoree (Brady Quinn, QB, Sept. 24, 2006).

Redshirt Freshman, Linebacker, Katy, TX/Katy
Linebacker Paddy Fisher recorded 17 tackles (14 solo), forced two fumbles and had two quarterback hurries as Northwestern outlasted 16th-ranked Michigan State, 39-31, in overtime. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 5-3, 3-2 in the Big Ten.

Notes: Paddy Fisher is the seventh Northwestern player (and fourth defensive honoree) to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004.

Walter Camp, “The Father of American football,” first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp – a former Yale University athlete and football coach – is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side.
