New Haven, Conn. – As part of its 47th annual Weekend festivities, the Walter Camp Football Foundation hosted a High School “Breakfast of Champions” at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven.  The seventh annual event was broadcast at www.sportingnewsct.com.  Ansonia High School, the Class S champion and state’s top-ranked team, was honored along with the three other state champions – Southington (Class LL), New Canaan (Class L) and St. Joseph (Class M).

Walter Camp Foundation to Host Youth Football Clinic on January 16

On Friday, January 16th, 2015, the Walter Camp Football Foundation will host a Youth Football Clinic at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

The clinic is open to children ages 8 to 13, and will allow children to experience the fundamentals of football through non-contact group activities.  Connecticut high school head coaches will team up with select Walter Camp All-Americans, alumni and local college coaches to lead children through fun drills and skill development exercises, while providing motivation, inspiration, and positive role-modeling.

Ansonia High School to Receive Walter Camp’s 2013 “Joseph W. Kelly” Award

New Haven, CT – The Ansonia Chargers, the No. 1 team in the state’s high school football season-ending polls, is the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s choice to receive the Joseph W. Kelly Award, which is awarded annually to Connecticut’s top high school football team. NEW HAVEN, CT – Five players, including Player of the Year Jameis Winston, from top-ranked Florida State  have earned 2013 Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America honors, the 124th honored by the organization.  The nation’s oldest All-America team was announced this evening on The Home Depot ESPN College Football Awards Show.  The Seminoles had two first-team honorees, and three more on the Second Team, including Winston, a redshirt freshman quarterback who earlier this evening was named the 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year. Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston is the 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year

New Haven, CT – Florida State University redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston (Bessemer, AL) has been selected as the 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year. Walter Camp Foundation President James Monico made the presentation tonight during ESPN’s 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter.

The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the nation’s 125 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. Other finalists for the Walter Camp 2013 Player of the Year award included Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, and Boston College running back Andre Williams.
