Alabama had three players, including Player of the Year Derrick Henry, selected to the First Team, while Ohio State, Baylor and Notre Dame all had two honorees. In all, 20 different schools from seven conferences were represented on the All-America First Team. The Southeastern Conference had eight selections, followed by the Pac-12 and Big 10 who each had four.

The Walter Camp All-America teams are selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 129 Football Bowl Subdivision schools and certified by Marcum LLP, a New Haven-based accounting firm. Walter Camp Football Foundation President Robert Kauffman was pleased with the voting participation.

“Once again, we had more than 80 percent of the FBS schools participate in this year’s voting,” Kauffman said. “We are very appreciative of the continuing cooperation of the coaches and sports information directors in our annual effort to honor the nation’s most outstanding college players.”

Leading the offensive unit is Henry, the 2015 Walter Camp Player of the Year.   The nation’s rushing leader (1,986 yards), Henry has scored 23 touchdowns and totaled four 200-yard rushing efforts for the Crimson Tide.

Joining Henry is the backfield is sophomore Leonard Fournette (LSU). Fournette has rushed for a school-record 1,741 yards and has scored 18 touchdowns.

The quarterback is Oklahoma junior Baker Mayfield. Mayfield has thrown for 3,389 yards and 35 touchdowns, while rushing for seven more scores.

Senior Josh Doctson (TCU) and junior Corey Coleman (Baylor) are the wide receivers. Doctson has 79 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns, while Coleman has 74 catches for 1,363 yards and 20 touchdowns. The tight end is Hunter Henry (Arkansas).

On the offensive line, four seniors were selected: Joshua Garnett (Stanford), Spencer Drango (Baylor), Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame), and Taylor Decker (Ohio State). Senior Ryan Kelly (Alabama) is the offensive center.

Placekicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (UCLA) has converted 20-of-23 field goals and all 44 of his point-after-kicks this season for the Bruins.

Leading the defensive unit is repeat First Team All-American Joey Bosa (Ohio State). Bosa totaled 16.0 tackles for loss for the Buckeyes. Joining Bosa on the interior is the nation’s sack leader (15.5), senior Carl Nassib (Penn State). The nation’s leader in tackles for loss (22.5), Shaq Lawson (Clemson), and Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) are First Team selections.

Two seniors – Tyler Matakevich (Temple) and Reggie Ragland (Alabama) – join junior Jaylon Smith (Notre Dame) at linebacker.

Junior Desmond King (Iowa), who ranks second in the nation with eight interceptions, anchors the defensive secondary. He is joined by Jeremy Cash (Duke), Vernon Hargreaves III (Florida) and Jalen Ramsey (Florida State). Cash and Hargreaves III were Second Team Walter Camp All-Americans in 2014.

The punter is senior Tom Hackett (Utah), a repeat First Team All-American, who averages 47.8 yards-per-punt. The kick returner is sophomore Evan Berry (Tennessee), who has three kickoff returns for touchdowns this season.

The 2015 Walter Camp Player of the Year and members of the All-America team will be honored at the organization’s national awards banquet, presented by First Niagara Bank, on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.

In addition, the Foundation will recognize three individuals – Special Olympics CEO Tim Shriver (Distinguished American), former Florida State and Oakland Raider standout wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff (Man of the Year) and former Grambling State All-American and NFL quarterback Doug Williams (Alumnus of the Year) – with major awards.

 Walter Camp, “The Father of American football,” first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp – a former Yale University athlete and football coach – is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side. The Walter Camp Football Foundation – a New Haven-based all-volunteer group – was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team.
