Georgia’s Aaron Murray and Michigan State’s Shilique Calhoun Named National Players of the Week
New Haven, CT – The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN (www.generationucan.com/waltercamp), for games ending September 7.
About the Award: This is the 10th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AARON MURRAY, GEORGIA
Senior, Quarterback, Tampa, FL/Plant
Aaron Murray completed 17-of-23 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns as 11th-ranked Georgia defeated #6 South Carolina, 41-30, in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams. Murray, who connected with eight different receivers in the game, threw scoring passes of 3, 6, 8 and 85 yards to lead the Bulldogs (1-1).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SHILIQUE CALHOUN, MICHIGAN STATE
Sophomore, Defensive End, Middletown, NJ/Middletown North
Shilique Calhoun had a big day as the Spartans (2-0) defeated South Florida, 21-6. Calhoun posted three tackles, two for losses, and two quarterback hurries. He also scored two defensive touchdowns – returning a fumble 4 yards for a score; and recording his first career interception which he returned 56 yards for a touchdown. For the game, Michigan State’s defense allowed just 155 yards of total offense.

Walter Camp, “The Father of American football,” first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp – a former Yale University athlete and football coach – is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side.
