2024 Walter Camp Player of Year Semifinalist Watch List, presented by McDermott Lexus of New Haven
The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of twenty “semifinalists” for its 2024 Player of the Year award, the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation. The semifinalist lists includes eight quarterbacks, seven defensive players, two running backs, two wide receiver/tight ends and one two-way player.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year award is presented by McDermott Lexus of New Haven.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year will be voted on by the 134 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors later this month. Three finalists will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and the 58th recipient of the Walter Camp Player of Year award will be announced on the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Thursday, December 12.

Jalen Milroe accounted for 294 total yards (185 rushing, 109 yards) in Alabama’s 42-13 victory at LSU. He totaled 185 rushing yards and four touchdowns (tied his career high) on only 12 carries for a 15.4 yards per rush average. He added 109 yards through the air on 12-of-18 passing. With the win, the Crimson Tide improved to 7-2, 4-2 in the SEC.
Notes: It is the second time this year (Oct. 1) that Jalen Milroe has earned Offensive Player of Week honors. It is also the 21st time an Alabama player has earned Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004.

Junior, Defensive End, Philadelphia, PA
Abdul Carter registered six tackles, including four tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks and one forced fumble in Penn State’s 35-6 victory against Washington. Carter led a defensive unit that allowed just 193 yards of total offense in the contest. With the win, the Nittany Lions improved to 8-1, 5-1 in the Big Ten.

Jordan Watkins set the Ole Miss single-game records for both receiving yards (254) and touchdowns (5) on eight receptions in the Rebels’ win against Arkansas. Watkins’ five touchdowns tied the SEC single-game record, and the 254 yards marked the 12th 250-yard performance in league history. Three of Watkins’ five scores came on passes of at least 62 yards, scoring twice from 62 and once from 66.

Mikail Kamara tallied seven tackles, 2.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss in the Hoosiers’ 47-10 win at Michigan State. Kamara led a defensive unit that held Michigan State to a program-record minus-36 rushing yards. The single-game sack total is the highest by an Indiana player since 2017. With the win, the Hoosiers improved to 9-0, their best start in school history.

Taylen Green had a career day in Arkansas’ 58-25 victory against Mississippi State. He was 23-of-30 (76.7%) passing for 314 yards, a career-high five touchdowns. Green also rushed 8 times for 79 yards and one touchdown. He was the first Arkansas quarterback to throw for five touchdowns and rush for a touchdown in a single game since 2010.

Suntarine Perkins posted 11 tackles, 5.0 of which were for a loss, and 4.0 coming via the quarterback sacks in Ole Miss’ 26-14 victory against Oklahoma. The 4.0 sacks were the most by any individual Rebel defender since 1993.

Bhayshul Tuten recorded a Virginia Tech single-game record with 266 rushing yards in a 42-21 win over Boston College. Tuten’s 266 rushing yards came on just 18 carries, averaging 14.8 yards per carry. Tuten also scored four touchdowns as the Hokies improved to 4-3.

Gabe Jacas totaled 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble in Illinois’ 21-7 win over #24 Michigan. Jacas set career highs in tackles (13) and sacks (2.5) in the victory. All 2.5 of his sacks came in the fourth quarter, as Illinois held Michigan to its fewest points in a decade.

Bryson Daily accounted for five touchdowns (4 rushing, 1 passing) in Army’s 44-10 win over UAB. Daily passed for 102 yards and rushed for 136 on only 12 carries, becoming the first Army rusher with a four rushing touchdown game since 2018. With the win, Army improved to 6-0 (first time since 1996), 5-0 in the American Athletic Conference.

Anthony Hill Jr. compiled a career-best 11 tackles (7 solo), two quarterback sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one pressure in Texas’ 34-3 win over Oklahoma. Notching his second double-digit tackling effort of his career and season. It was Hill’s fourth-straight game with a sack. With the victory, Texas has started the season 6-0 for the first time since 2009.
