Fifty Named to 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List
New Haven, Conn. – The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of fifty “players to watch” for its 2013 Player of the Year award, the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.
Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, a finalist for the 2012 Walter Camp Player of the Year award, headlines the 2013 watch list. Manziel, a First Team Walter Camp All-American a year ago, accounted for more than 5,000 yards of total offense and 47 touchdowns for the Aggies.
Three former Walter Camp Players of the Year among those selected for College Football HOF
Former Walter Camp Players of the Year Vinny Testeverde (1986) , Danny Wuerrfel ( 1996), and Ron Dayne (1999) were among 12 players and 2 coaches selected to the Class of 2013 College Football Hall of Fame. Read more
Walter Camp Member Named Gold Ring Recipient
Walter Camp member and publicity chairperson Al Carbone was recognized by the New Haven Boys & Girls Club Alumni as one of their three “Gold Ring Award” recipients at its 79th annual banquet on April 29 at the Country House in East Haven. The Gold Ring is awarded in recognition of the volunteer service that the honorees perform in the community.
