2024 Ring of Honor Inductees:
Will Shields
After a stellar career at the University of Nebraska, Will Shields was selected as the 74th pick in the 1993 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. In 14 NFL seasons at the Offensive Guard position, Will never missed a game. Shields played his entire NFL career with the Chiefs, earning Pro Bowl honors 12 times, was selected as the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2003 for his charitable work in “The Will to Succeed Foundation”, which he founded in 1993, and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. In addition, Will was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (2011), Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame (2012), and was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-Century Team (1999)
Charlie Ward
Charlie Ward was the 1993 Walter Camp Player of the Year and won the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and the Davey O’Brien Award as a quarterback for the Florida State University. He subsequently led the Seminoles to their first-ever national championship in the 1993 Orange Bowl.
Ward played in the NBA with the New York Knicks for nine years and started in the 1999 NBA Finals. He later had short spells with the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets, before retiring in 2005. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
