2011 Walter Camp All-America Notebook
This is the 122nd edition of the Walter Camp All-America team – the nation’s oldest All-America team. Twenty-five players are selected to the first team by the 120 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors.
Four players – RB LaMichael James (Oregon), WR Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State), WR Ryan Broyles (Oklahoma) and LB Luke Kuechly (Boston College) – are repeat First Team All-Americans. Quarterback Andrew Luck (Stanford) was a Second Team honoree in 2010.
122nd Edition of the Walter Camp All-America Team Announced
The Walter Camp All-America team is selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 120 Football Bowl Subdivision schools and certified by Marcum LLP, a New Haven-based accounting firm.
Second-ranked Alabama had the most players (4) selected to the First Team, while Stanford had three. Top-ranked LSU had two players chosen to the First Team. In all, 19 different schools from six conferences were represented on the All-America First Team.
NFL Hall-of-Famer Harry Carson is Walter Camp Man of the Year
Former New York Giants’ captain and Hall-of-Fame linebacker Harry Carson (South Carolina State) is the recipient of the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s 2011 “Man of the Year” award.
The Walter Camp “Man of the Year” award honors an individual who has been closely associated with the game of football as a player, coach or close attendant to the game. He must have attained a measure of success and been a leader in his chosen profession. He must have contributed to the public service for the benefit of his community, country and his fellow man. He must have an impeccable reputation for integrity and must be dedicated to our American Heritage and the philosophy of Walter Camp.
Five Finalists Announced for 2011 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award
The 2011 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, who is voted on by the Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be presented live on Thursday, December 8 during the 6 p.m. edition of ESPN SportsCenter.
Three quarterbacks – Robert Griffin III (Baylor), Case Keenum (Houston) and Andrew Luck (Stanford) – lead the list of five finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2011 College Player of the Year award. Two players from the Southeastern Conference - Alabama running back Trent Richardson and LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu -- round out the list.

This is the final weekly selection of the 2011 regular season. This was the eighth year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients were selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.
Former NFL All-Pro Chris Spielman Named Walter Camp Alumni Award Recipient
Former Ohio Sate and Detroit Lions linebacker will be honored on January 14 at the Foundation's National Awards Dinner
The Walter Camp “Alumni of the Year” award is bestowed on a worthy individual who has distinguished himself in the pursuit of excellence as an athlete, in his personal career and in doing good works for others. He must be an individual who has exhibited dedication and good moral conduct in achieving success. He must be a compassionate and unselfish person who contributes his time and assistance in helping to encourage and comfort fellow human beings less talented and less fortunate than himself. He must be an individual who takes pride in having been a Walter Camp All-American.

Fifteen Semifinalists Announced for Walter Camp Player of the Year Award
The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of fifteen “Semifinalists” for its 2011 Player of the Year award, the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation.
The 15-player watch list includes nine quarterbacks, two running backs, two wide receivers and two defensive players.
