Giants QB Eli Manning and Raiders LB Khalil Mack Named Walter Camp All-America Alumni NFL Players of the Week
The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced its All-America Alumni NFL Offensive and Defensive Players of the week for games ending December 14.
About the Award: The Walter Camp Foundation has more than 300 of its All-American alumni currently on NFL rosters. The Foundation’s All-America teams date back to 1889, and the Foundation has also selected a Second Team since 1998. Each week during the NFL regular-season, the Walter Camp Foundation will recognize one offensive and one defensive player as its Alumni Players of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ELI MANNING, Quarterback, New York Giants
Eli Manning completed 27-of-31 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns as the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins, 31-24. A collegiate standout at Ole Miss, Manning was a 2003 Walter Camp Second Team All-America honoree.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KHALIL MACK, Linebacker, Oakland Raiders
Khalil Mack recorded seven tackles, including five quarterback sacks, and one forced fumble as the Oakland Raiders defeated the Denver Broncos, 15-12. A collegiate standout at Buffalo, Mack was a 2013 Walter Camp Second Team All-American.
Walter Camp, “The Father of American football,” first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp – a former Yale University athlete and football coach – is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side. The Walter Camp Football Foundation (www.waltercamp.org, @WalterCampFF) – a New Haven-based all-volunteer group – was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team. The Foundation is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA).
